We recently had to put down our beloved boxer, Faith. After a bit of time, our boxer-loving family decided to work with Boxer Friends and Coastal Boxer Rescue, two great rescue organizations, to foster until we found the right dog for us to adopt.
 
On December 20th we became a foster family and picked up Tyson, a five-year-old male boxer from the Broward County Animal Control. We wanted to give him a place to run and play after having been cooped up in a shelter for two weeks so, after loading up our truck with my son and daughter and their friends, we picked up Tyson and headed directly to the dog park in The Lakes Area of Emerald Hills. He ran like there was no tomorrow.
My husband then headed over with our other boxer, Buster, and the two ran and ran and ran. We will be returning often to let the dogs run and play and we will be checking out the other dog parks in our area as well as the Hollywood, FL dog beach that we love so much!
Being in real estate I see first hand all of the families being displaced due to the current housing market. A byproduct of these unplanned relocations is that many people are not able to keep their pets.
There are many wonderful organizations out there that work to help people surrender their pets and place them in loving homes. If you have a pet you need to surrender, I would encourage you to look for a rescue organization to place them with; and if you are interested in either fostering or adopting a pet, there are so many wonderful loving animals of every breed, shape and size in rescue organizations just looking for a forever family.
I will be out at Boxer Bowl on January 25th at TY Park in Hollywood with my boxers and look forward to meeting other animal enthusiasts and just enjoying a nice outdoor day with my family.
