HOLLYWOOD BEACH’S NEW HOT SPOT!!
Hollywood Beach, Florida, conveniently located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, has long been a favorite of mine. Not as
busy as its neighbors, and with the Boardwalk, a great area on the beach with little shops and restaurants, it is always a lot of fun!
Small Charnow Park, on Garfield Street and the beach, had been there forever but was long past its glory days. Recently, however, there was an extreme $20 million renovation which transformed the 37,891 square foot Charnow Park and the Garfield Street parking lot into a wonderful community gathering place.
Colorful pavers with elaborate design motifs merge with the renovated Boardwalk, welcoming visitors to enter and enjoy the amenities.
The park offers four futuristic picnic pavilions pointing toward the sky, providing shade and shelter for any size group. There is an interactive water fountain that anchors a large entertainment plaza surrounded by plenty of shaded seating. Two new play areas have been updated with state of the art playground equipment for both very young toddlers and older children.
High above it all is the two story Garfield Community Center, located at 300 Connecticut Street, overlooking the Boardwalk with amazing views of Charnow Park and the ocean. The 5,000 square foot facility is perfect for many uses including family gatherings, corporate events, or weddings. On the second floor it features a beautiful banquet hall, an office, kitchen and scenic wraparound balcony. The first floor is home to the newly renovated historic (?) paddleball courts.
Even the parking area has been transformed into a five story plus rooftop parking garage with an eastward facing observation deck on the second floor.
Looking for something fun to do? Head out to Hollywood Beach at South Florida’s most spectacular new urban recreational area. It’s a great place to have fun in the sun!
