This Miami mom is still recovering from a whirlwind tour of four    Florida colleges with her 17 year old daughter Heather and 40 other high school students.
 
My friend and colleague, Susan Sara, of College Pursuit asked me to be a chaperone and I am so glad she did.
 
We visited the University of Central Florida (UCF), the University of South Florida (USF), Florida State University (FSU) and the University of Florida (UF) over a three-day period and I learned more about our schools than I could have researching on-line for a month. We met with the admissions counselors and current students, visited the dorms, ate in the dining halls and toured the campuses.
 
Heather, who is a junior at a Miami area high school, was awed and overwhelmed at how fierce the competition is to get in. 
 
I have been stressing her GPA to her for years, but this seemed to really get her attention like nothing else has. 
 
She will continue in College Pursuits SAT classes in Pembroke Pines, Florida and continue homework club there as well.
 
I am hoping to see more studying and hear fewer excuses. I’ll keep you posted!
