Parks and Recreation

The entire land mass on which the community of Indian Creek sits is a tiny island, covering an area of only 0.4 total square miles. The vast majority of this is taken up by the world-renowned Indian Creek Country Club and its resplendent, lovingly manicured golf course. William Flynn was the golf course's architect and designer back in 1928, shortly after the island itself popped into existence. During that same year, Maurice Fatio came to Indian Creek to design the golf course's clubhouse. It is a private course so you will need to be a member to play here, or at least be invited by a member.

When they're not teeing it up at the country club, most Indian Creek residents turn to their neighbors, Surfside and Bal Harbour, for their public parks, recreation destinations and facilities.

Almost an exclusively residential town, Bal Harbour offers visitors access to Bal Harbour Beach, which is essentially adjacent to Surfside Beach, if only a little further north.

Surfside's Parks and Recreation Department maintains a multipurpose Community Center, with facilities at Hawthorne Park, 96th Street Park, Surfside Tennis Courts, Veterans Park, and the 93rd Street Beach Lifeguard Stand. It also offers adult education courses, sponsors holiday celebrations and other special events, as well as a wide range of youth sports and programs.
